Got chucked back in the pool today, by self-request. Always felt that the range of motion of my arms and legs were restricted by sheer gravity that we don't realise about on a daily basis. Polymyositis makes one EXTREMELY aware of gravity. Gravity is not my friend at the moment! Anyway, it was amazing how this was swiftly addressed with the use of just water. I could stick my arms out quite easily in front of me and swing my legs straight into a 90 degree angle, almost! However, I still can't swim on my front as my shoulders are not strong enough yet to push my body weight up. Doing the froggie on my back is not too bad though, although my neck strains a little.
By the way, I was told that the outfit I'm in may be too indecent for hydrotherapy. Yet I was told that I should wear a two piece. Sheesh...this is my most conservative two piece, people... Short of digging out my very dry and shrunken full diving wetsuit, this is all I have to offer for now! Wait till I grow more muscles! Then my boobs won't look so shrunken cos they'll have pectorals again to stick them out! Then we'll talk again about decency!
Will try and get more pics of the equipment that is used for hydrotherapy. Quite simply, ankle floats and weights are tied to one's legs, a spongy tube or sausage as I call it is used and a kickboard is an essential.
