Big Curly Hair Day

Rolled out of bed today, threw on a T-shirt and shorts and a bit of makeup, and waited for my photoshoot for an article in a women's magazine to raise awareness about autoimmune diseases and disability sports.

Little did I know it was to be the whole shebang, sent by Singapore Press Holdings. Makeup artist Damien Teo arrived with two big bags of makeup and accessories that every girl dreams of having. He seemed disappointed that I had my own makeup on when he arrived. He then proceeded to pile on the eyeshadow, eyeliner, curled my lashes, applied more mascara, blusher, lippie...

Hang on ...this was like 1030 in the morning, and I was looking like I was getting ready to go clubbing! He even took out the flat irons and curled my hair into a twist, to which I did apprehensively protest! But alas...I did not have much of a say in this, so I just played along.

The final photos turned out good, thanks to Calvin Tan, the photographer, though I must say a curly fringe is so not me...takes the edge out of my divenazi reputation! Thanks to Jocelyn Lok for arranging a smooth shoot, and helping to make me feel at ease with the camera.

You'll have to wait for the August issue of Simply Her to see the final pics!

Hi, Karen!

This is Sharon here, from SNGS. Hope you remember who I am. :) It's been a LONG time since we last met. I came across the Simply Her write-up last night & read about your courageous & inspiring story.

Just wanna let you know that you're in my prayers. Continue to be strong, pray & trust in Him for divine healing.

Take good care & stay in touch! :)

Hi Sharon! Yes of course I remember you, we used to hang out with Ange, remember her? Of course that girl is off in Spain now representing Singapore in in-line hockey if I got that right. Thanks for your words of encouragement and your prayers! No wonder I've bounced back so quickly, loads of prayers being said for me, the attention is sometimes embarrassing. There are a few inaccurate facts in the article you read but most of it is true, lol! Just a bit too melodramatic for me, hah! Must catch up soon!

Yo, Karen!

Of course I remember Ange! ;) Bumped into her once a few years ago. She had set up an inline skating biz then, I think.

Hey, it's wonderful to note that you're progressing day by day. :) Inaccuracies in mags, yeah, very common. (I'd experienced that with an interior decor mag too.) Nevertheless, I belive that by sharing your story, many lives have been touched & spirits uplifted. Continue to share of God's healing grace & goodness.

When I next organise another meet-up with Jialing & the rest (with their kiddies & all.. hehe!), will keep you in the loop. My place is pretty near your place, if you're still residing at the same place. :)

You take care, Karen. I can also be reached via my email at shangcappella@gmail.com.

God Bless,
Sharon :)
